RARE Gorham Durgin 1928 Hallmark Sterling Silver Creamer Puritan #2553 3/4 Pint

Description

This sterling silver hollowware creamer or pitcher was made by Gorham in 1928 in the Puritan pattern (#2553) and is marked on the bottom center as follows:
‘GORHAM’
The letter ‘D’ in script
‘STERLING’
‘2553’
‘3/4PT’
To the left of these marks is a Gorham hallmark that resembles a tree. This is a Gorham date code mark and, based on charts of Gorham hallmarks, indicates the date of this piece is 1928.
The script ‘D’ mark represents the William B. Durgin Company. The company was in business from 1880 - 1905 and used this mark on their silver pieces. In 1905 they were bought by Gorham but the ‘D’ script was still used by Gorham until around 1930. The creamer is in great condition with no dents or breaks. It has minor light scratches or scuffs as would be expected of a piece of this age. We are leaving any polishing to the new owner.
The creamer stands 4 1/2 inches to the top of the handle. The base is 2 3/4 inches in diameter.
