    Description

    The "
    Frank M. Whiting & Company
" (not to be confused with the "Whiting Manufacturing Company", also purveyors of sterling silver wares) produced the fine
    sterling
    silver
    holloware
    presented here. Numbered "
    737
", which is marked on the underside of both pieces, this
    sugar
    and
    creamer
    set
, is virtually dent/ding free and remains in very good condition, other than the need for a light cleaning/polishing to its tarnished outer surface.
    With light
    gold wash
    interiors and weighing a total
    139
    grams
    , the pieces are
    unweighted
, giving you all sterling silver. Many of the company's sugar and creamer sets were weighted - not this set. With each piece
    pedestal
    footed,
    the
    open sugar
    bowl
    /dish measures
    5-5/8
    " x
    2-7/8
    "
    (
    W x H
). The 5-5/8" width represents handle to handle. It's
    rim
    has a
    3-1/4
    "
    diameter
    . The
    creamer
    /pitcher measures
    5-1/4
    " x
    2-7/8
    " (WxH)
    . The base of the
    pedestals
    for both pieces has a
    diameter
    of
    2-1/4
    ".
Solid sturdy pieces, the lines of this set are clean and simple, with stylized scrolled handles (note the detail). Both pieces are marked "
    STERLING
    BY
    FRANK
    M.
    WHITING
    &
    COMPANY
    " along with the company's "
    W
" hallmark. (see pix #6). The
    creamer
    has
    additional unidentifiable hand scripted
    markings, further identifying the set.
