Engraved Sugar Bowl Caryatid Handles Gorham Sterling Silver 1881 JMA
Gorham sterling silver footed sugar bowl, having two rectangle handles with figural caryatid head decorations on the top and leaf accents at the end. Body has matte finish with engraved patterns, featuring passion flower vine with two flying swallows on the one side as well as floral & berry branches with butterflies on the other. Monogrammed "JMA" in curly script. Interior is gilt. Marked E18. Date mark for 1881.
This stunning bowl is 3 1/2" in diameter, 5" from handle to handle, 4 1/4" tall and weighs 305.6 grams or 9.85 ozs Troy.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
